Nose: Soft and appealing with explosion of baking spices, dates and a Dominican cigar. Hot rye nuances meet with vanilla cream and a hint of smoke from the barrel.
Palate:Palate shows the impact of proof with dry, gingery profile blended with Demerara syrup, full grain bread resolving into cinnamon, pine cone and peppers at the back.
Finish: Lingering, warm and mouth drying, joyful final.
I met the Roaming Man Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey with this Batch 3 bottling. I remember myself getting into the packaging, the great label but most importantly, the transparency about the production.
I find the whiskey style, simply bold and rich. If you are looking for a complex style with high proof, you are at the right place.
Roaming Man Batch 3 was produced only 444 bottles and it was aged for 2 years and 5 months in 3 different 25 gallon barrels with #3 and #4 char levels.
You feel all the complexity in the whiskey that I have written above. Two things to improve is certainly age and texture of the spirit. I found Batch 3 to be a little bit on the thinner side than i have imagined with this alcohol level.
I told myself to follow the brand and hopefully try the next batches when possible and here are the Batch 8 and Batch 9!
