Nose: A beautiful complexity. Cinnamon, cedar wood, nutmeg, bitter chocolate is combined with the delicious aromas of sherry wood, raisins, candied fruits.
Palate: Big body covers your mouth with Sultanas, dried plums and figs. Clean and lovable.
Finish: Sherry continues to dominate with charred oak notes. Pungent sherry traces with caramel and oak spices combine for a lingering finish.
Macallan 18 Year Old Sherry Oak is one of the iconic whiskies and a benchmark in modern whisky history. Excitement starts from cracking the lid, and pouring it into the glass.
18 year old is considered to be in the optimum age range for Scotch whiskies in the industry. In my opinion I can confirm that for this bottle too. However, there are also some younger and older Macallan bottles which are magical experiences.
Nose is rich and development and range of aromas in time is brilliant. Palate gives what I want from a Macallan. Clean, subtle, big bodied and of course delicious. Finish is long and warming.
The only con of this whisky is the price tag as you can imagine. A median price of $280 is considerably high. Though I always have one in my cabinet.
