This particular Kavalan is very interesting with its name since I spent some time around music. Though I would never think that I would be disappointed with a Port finished Kavalan.
I cannot find any explanation about the lack of balance on the palate and I seriously cannot understand how this whisky won the ‘Best Of Class’ award at IWSC 2011, I guess the main reason is the success of King Car.
Starting with the nose you are expecting something big, though it is always muted even if you swirl it a lot.
No balance on the palate, you can feel some winey notes and it has a cheap regular finish. Definitely not worth the price and disappointing.
