Nose: Tropical fruit aromas such as mango and papaya appears. It becomes richer by lime, citrus, fig, date and sultanas. Quite rich and complex.
Palate: Nectar D'Or has a creamy texture. Felling of nutmeg, almonds, lemon with grainy trace.
Finish: Long and sweet. White chocolate, vanilla creates and sublime finish.
For a long time I adored Nectar d'Or. It used to be the most special whisky of Glenmorangie's "Extra Matured" series according to me until Quinta Ruban was released as a 14 year old. Nectar d'Or completes a 12 year maturation period in ex-bourbon casks and then it is finished in famous French Sauternes casks on wine residue.
Beside having a white wine palate experience, it also possesses a rich aroma character. I always recall the term "Liquid Gold" when I observe the bottle. Now, with the new packaging, it still goes on, without an age statement on it though.
Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or always reminds me of a great summer whisky with complexity. Although if you can find I can also advise you to find a BenRiach Sauternes!
