Country – Region: Scotland – Highland Distillery: Glenmorangie Type: Single Malt Age: 15 Cask: 1st Fill Bourbon Barrels ABV: 43.0% Proof: 86 Price:$85
Nose: Tropical fruits, honeycomb, oranges, white chocolate, sourdough, malt biscuit and heather Palate: Creamy with heather, pears, white pepper, kumquat, menthol and custard. Finish: Long and complex with chocolate notes, coffee beans, grapefruit, toasted oak, Christmas cake and white flowers.
The barley used to produce this whisky is grown on the distillery’s Cadboll Estate and matured for 15 years in first-fill bourbon casks. This US exclusive from the Highland distillery shows an intense oak depth and a rounded profile.
Nose and palate are showing classic Glenmorangie qualities with fruity character, creamy palate with layers of details. However, I was mostly impressed by the finish for this particular whisky. The lingering and rich finish just ends the experience wonderfully.
