Elvis Rye Whiskey is a straight rye whiskey that was born from the collaboration of Grain & Barrel Spirits and Elvis Presley Enterprises. I also wrote about the straight Tennessee whiskey called 'Tiger Man'.
This whiskey though is not from Tennessee. It was bottled in Tennessee but the whiskey is from Indiana. Yes! You are right again, it is from MGP. Well, that is not bad news at all, and thanks to Grain & Barrel Spirits to be transparent about it. As expected we have a 95-5 mash bill. Just like Tiger Man, this bottle also has a label on the cap with a print 'TCB', referring to Elvis' famous phrase 'Taking Care of Business".

Elvis Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Very lively orange zest flavors open the nose with cardamom, floral notes and butterscotch. The palate offers cinnamon at the very start which is amplified with toasted oak. The sweet custard note is accompanied by spicy ginger, apple crumble, and honey. After a rich and medium-long palate, the finish also is very pleasant with baking spices, chocolate and lemon zest.
Verdict
I did like the Elvis Rye! It is not the most mature MGP rye out there but despite its youth, it actually delivers what I expected and what I also like to have on the palate. The spice was very well balanced on the nose and finish is pleasant. If I were to choose between two Elvis bottles, currently I would pick The King!
