Bottled by the independent bottler A.D.Rattray’s, Cask Islay offers whisky from an unknown Islay distillery. A.D.Rattray's is known for its good bottlings. They also offer other whiskies in exquisite casks.
Cask Islay was matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks but the distillery is unknown. Thus it is kind of a blind tasting experience. My wild guess would be that, this particular whisky was from Caol Ila.
This non age statement whisky was pretty impressive especially on the palate spicy sherry cask notes are delicate.
Independent bottlers can be both exciting and unknown. Though Cask Islay generally delivers consistency throughout their offerings.
